As I write this America is an uproar. The Supreme Court draft leak has caught the attention of every American on both sides of the Roe v. Wade debate. Pro life America is celebrating this potential victory that is historical by all standards. Pro choice America is outraged and threatened that such a decision could be made by the highest court in the land. Of all times, this is a time for the church to rise up and be heard.

As I have watched the news unfold, my heart has been filled with both joy and concern. Part of me finds it hard to believe that we are actually seeing this decision come forth. We have prayed and prayed for God honoring decisions like this to come about in America and it is completely humbling to see these prayers answered. The concern of my heart is with the obvious evil that I see working behind this leak. No doubt this is a political attempt to persuade and invest in political agendas that are not concerned with life at all. It does not take a rocket scientist to realize the political motives at work here.

As I work through the responses I hear on both sides of this issue, I feel it necessary to share the following words as a believer and evangelical leader.

Christians must be pro life! If we claim to have a relationship with the one true living God and are following Jesus as the only way to be right with God then we have to understand that our God is always for life. We just celebrated Easter and the very message of this pivotal holiday for Christians is the message of life. God has defeated death through the cross and ressurection. We do not serve a God who delights in death, ever!

The whole arguement of pro choice is that human beings deserve to make the choice for their own bodies (funny to me though those same proponents demanded a vaccine be forced on everyone no matter their choice). The very people who could not define womanhood a couple weeks ago are now instantly standing up for the rights of women. Talk about hypocrisy! The right to choose is dominating the news. The Bible, however, is very clear that the choices of humanity lead to death. God created us with a choice. Adam and Eve were free to choose to obey God or take the fruit. They took the fruit and their choice led to sin and death. This is why Paul says in Romans "the wages of sin is death." Only God can bring life from death, and that is precisely his desire. Yes, God has given us the ability to choose but we must understand that when we make choices opposed to what God has laid forth in his word, then death and consequences come our way. Yet can't have God and selfishness at the same time. Abortion is the epitome of selfish choices.

We serve a God of life, not death.

God is the creator and sustainer of life. The Bible is clear that life is formed in the womb by the hands of God. God is the one who is sovereign over life and death. If we really have a relationship with the God of the universe then we have to celebrate life the way he celebrates life. Being pro-life is more than being anti-abortion. We must be pro-adoption. We must come alongside women struggling with this decison and help them choose life. We must not shame those who are walking this journey. We must celebrate the courage it takes to choose life and not death.

The abortion movement in America is nothing less than the worship of Molech in the Old Testament. The Israelites were forbidden to offer their children as sacrifices to Molech, the god of child sacrifice. The surrounding nations were burning their children alive as sacrifices to this foreign god and any Israelite who associated with such faced the death penalty. This is how seriously God viewed this sin. Abortion is Molech worship. America is bowing at the altar of sex and self. We are murdering babies in sacrifice to a god of our own making before they are even born. Be not mistaken, judgement is coming on this land for the countless lives sacrificed to a false god.

We serve a God who is pro life. He is nothiing less than pro life because he is the giver of life. Murder is never acceptable in his eyes, inside or outside of the womb. To love and serve God is to follow his way. Therefore, the church must be pro life in all ways.

So what is the Christian response as we see the current decisions coming forth? Praise God for the answered prayer as he works through the Supreme Court. Pray for the Supreme Court justices that they remain bold and safe in the midst of this chaos. Pray for the darkness that is working through politicians and other lawmakers who are so bent on anti-God idealogies. Pray for the church to remain bold and loving so that the Gospel would prevail in every way. Show grace to those who have experienced an abortion in the past and help them see the full depth of God's forgiveness for the present.

Through it all, celebrate life in Jesus!
