When did you start attending/working at First Baptist Church?
I began attending First Baptist Church Greenville in 1976 with my wife. Our family joined First Baptist in 1977 (I, being a Methodist, was baptized into the membership). My wife Lynn and I raised our 2 daughters in this church where they were baptized and later married. In 1984, I realized that I was not a Christian and was baptized a second time after acknowledging Christ as Lord and Savior. I have been a Sunday School teacher and a Deacon for 25 years. I began serving as Sunday School Director in 2005.
Where did you go to school?
I attended Mississippi State University and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1971. Thereafter I attended University of Mississippi School of Law and received a Juris Doctor degree graduating in 1973. I have been a practicing attorney for 39 years.
What are your spiritual gifts?
Teaching, giving, administration and missions
What are you most passionate about in ministry?
I am passionate about being a good ambassador for the Lord Jesus Christ. I feel that Christians should clearly portray the character and personality of Christ. I strongly desire to see the body of Christ functioning in a way that God intended so that the local church is seen as a beacon of hope to unbelievers in a very confused world.
What are you currently reading?
I recently completed The Transformational Church and The Message of the Sphinx; I am about to read The Confession by John Grisham.
Who are your favorite singers/bands/songs?
Christian: Gospel and traditional hymns and praise songs; Amazing Grace, The King is Coming
Secular: Bands and songs from the Motown era (Temptations, Sam Cooke, The Drifters, etc.); traditional and classic country music and many artists of the 60s, 70s and 80s.
